Tali Gallery has enjoyed representing the beautiful and talented artists from the Torres Strait Islands who create fabulous cuffs, necklaces and bags from ghost nets (yes fishing nets!) that wash up on their beaches.   It was a joy to see their stunning clothing and accessories on the runway at the inaugural Australian Indigenous Fashion Week held in Sydney.   And now we have a beautiful new range of ghost net accessories and fabrics available in the Gallery.

Pictured here are Erub artists, Racie and Florence, with photographer and artist, Yaja Hadrys, having fun in a woven hat created by the Casino Wake Up Women.

We’ll be curating a textile exhibition for the City of Sydney during NAIDOC Week in July/August this year, featuring the fabulous fabrics on which this island community recounts traditional stories.
