Iwana Ken was born in 1937 and lived a traditional nomadic life in her early years.  As a teenager, she was taught how to create tapestry by the missionaries at Ernabella.  Another childhood memory is the wonder of seeing a camel for the first time.   Mrs. Ken created a pair of large Tjanpi grass camels incorporating crocheted seats, which was a Telstra finalist entry in 2009.  This is the first tapestry she has created as an adult, and we are proud to include it in our current collection of art at Tali G.  Naive and whimsical and delightful, capturing the history of the desert dwellers.
