Please join us at Surry Hills Library on Thursday, May 22nd at 6pm for 6.30pm for a delightful conversational session with charming author, Irena Hatfield and Di from Tali Gallery, hearing about Irena’s very interesting experiences and adventures setting up and organising the building of the Aboriginal Art Centre on Elcho Island located off the coast of Arnhem Land.

Tali Gallery has been working with Elcho Island for several years –  the art centre has gained a reputation for fine weaving, ochre paintings, barks and Morning Star Poles.  The artists have been exhibited internationally including demonstrating their work at the British Museum.  They are included in public and private collections throughout Australia and around the world.  Elcho Island has also become very well known due to the popularity and fame of International performer, Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu and the Chookie Dancers.
