We were delighted to host a visit from the artists and staff of  Pormpuraaw Arts and Culture on Sunday 23rd November .

The Art Centre is well known for its fascinating ghost net artwork including Jelly fish totems using entirely recycled materials, beautiful etchings, bird and camp dog carvings and paintings.

You may remember the wonderful 3.5 metre mermaid or Obelow that adorned our window last summer – it was created by this art centre.

The artists appeared at the Australian Museum during the Corroboree Festival event – we were pleased they were able to connect with our community!

And they also brought in some very evocative new etchings of the sea creatures that inhabit their water off Cape York in the Gulf of Carpentaria.
